Half of Canadians don’t want flu vaccine: poll – [ctv.ca]
On the eve of the biggest immunization program in Canadian history, a new poll suggests roughly half of Canadians do not want the H1N1 swine flu vaccine.
According to a Strategic Counsel poll taken for CTV News and The Globe and Mail, 51 per cent of Canadians do not plan on getting vaccinated.
However, 67 per cent of those polled say they believe the vaccine is safe for adults and 59 per cent said the vaccine is safe for children.
The poll, which questioned 1,000 Canadians between Oct. 22-24, suggests most of the country is not overly worried about the H1N1 flu, even if people are taking precautions.
While 63 per cent of respondents say they have taken precautions against the H1N1 swine flu, 67 per cent of respondents say they are only a little worried or not worried at all about catching the flu.

The H1N1 vaccine might turn you into a NEWER mutant..
(se: Whoa. I believe that. I don’t want to get the shot either. What kind of testing has been done on this shot? It’s only been on the market as of late, and with H1N1 being under a year old, who knows what could happen. Maybe you begin to mutate, who knows.
Sure, people are going to die, and a lot of people would be sick, but look at bird flu. Whatever happened to that? Remember SARS? Wasn’t that supposed to come back and start wiping out mankind? I think I will pass on this..)
So I have two hand sanitizer bottles on my desk. Both have gotten low, and I came to realize that even though they still have about a cm left in the bottom, you cant get any of it out.
I looked at the bottom of these bottles and realized that they have indents so where the straw thingy sits all the actual sanitizer sits around the outside. Why the fuck would they make these like this? I was thinking that the government covered this up because by inverting the bottoms of these sanitizer bottles they make you buy them earlier. You have to keep buying them and then you get the bird/swine flu, and ebola, all because the government wants to take away your drivers license for running down pedestrians that are illegally taking there sweet ass fucking time jay walking across Chingacousy Rd.
Anyway, it’s a cover up. Check out the bottom of your sanitizer bottles you will see what I mean. That’s all i’m saying ..
My name is LeeRoy… and its a fuckin’ cover-up !
Prostitutes suffer with ’sinister’ law
The streets are not safe for prostitutes. Yet the streets are where Canada’s laws force them to work. While prostitution is legal in this country, nearly everything surrounding the activity is criminalized, particularly where the service can be provided: Not indoors, not in one’s home, and not under a roof shared with a spouse, partner or bodyguard, any of whom can be charged with living off the avails.
That Catch-22 is at the heart of a constitutional challenge which finally opened Tuesday before Ontario Superior Court Justice Susan Himel, and largely on the efforts of students from York University and Osgoode Hall Law School.
Few others, it would appear, care much about the lives – too often, deaths – of sex trade workers. As rewritten in the mid-’80s, Canada’s legislation is far more preoccupied with marginalizing prostitution, keeping the nuisance of solicitation off the streets, yet simultaneously denying its practitioners a secure environment that would discourage both predatory assaults and the visible street presence that many citizens find objectionable.

(se: What is this country coming to? Have you ever drove around some of the scummy parts of Toronto at night? You see all sorts of crap, especially tonnes of dirty ass hookers. We are not talking about the girl next door turning tricks. These are some old ass, busted up, drug/alcohol addicted nasty ass hookers. I don’t even know how they make money. However there must be some desperate guys. I would be completely pissed off if I had hookers wandering around my neighborhood. I can’t see why the Government would even consider legalizing any of the filth that goes with prostitution, or prostitution itself. They should ban prostitution and attach a 10 year minimum sentence to it. Let’s work on cleaning up the streets. While they are at it, they should ban panhandling. The problem with this country is that they make it so easy to sway their morals. Hookers aren’t doing anything good for society, and should be forced to get real jobs instead of making our city, and society dirty. It’s easy to see no one cares when hookers get killed, just other hookers and the morons that support them.)

Study shows washing hands may not prevent flu
You’ve heard it time and time again. Wash your hands to prevent disease.
But research done in 2007 and presented by the Canadian Medical Association Journal Thursday found there is no evidence that hand washing prevents the flu.
The report, commissioned by the Public Health Agency of Canada and described in a news article on the CMAJ’s website, stated that current evidence shows flu is primarily spread through the air.
Despite the results, the Public Health Agency of Canada continues to recommend handwashing to prevent the flu because there is “substantial evidence” to support washing to prevent infection.
“We really do think handwashing is a safeguard,” Dr. Donald Low, microbiologist-in-chief at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto told CTV News Channel. He chaired the handwashing study.
Infectious disease specialist Dr. Neil Rau, who was not involved in the study, explained to CTV News Channel the information that flu is spread mostly through the air is not altogether new.
“There’s a small portion of flu that can be transmitted by shaking hands with someone who has it and then touching your eye or your mouth… or touching an inanimate surface like a bus pole,” he said. “But most flu is transmitted through cough and sneezing.

(se: Oh shit! We’re all going to die! Ok.. Well maybe you will. not me though.. Anyhow this H1N1 flu is funny. You see “wash your hands” signs, and hand sanitizers everywhere. In my office building you see people kicking the revolving door around with their feet, pressing elevator buttons with their elbows, and sliding though closing doors like ninjas to avoid touching them. Now that it may not be dependant on washing your hands, I wonder if you will see people wearing face masks, like in the good old days of SARS, where it was supposed to kill us. Or bird flu, that was supposed to kill us. Seems like every year there is something trying to kill us. Listen up germs, we’re humans, we’re amazing at killing ourselves. We don’t need you!)
